Description	One of the most important skills in chess is the ability to plan the game. A player who just moves his pieces without a concrete goal and expects mistakes from his opponent, cannot normally compete with those who predict ahead and arrange the pieces according to the strategic goals. In this lecture Grandmaster Kosintseva will introduce to you some instructive examples of chess planning and give you her recommendations on how to start coming up with a good plan. Grandmaster Nadezhda Kosintseva, born in 1985, achieved major success in chess, starting at a young age. At the European Youth Chess Championship, Kosintseva won gold medals in 1995 (Girls Under-10), 1997 (Girls Under-12) and 2000 (Girls Under-18). At the World Youth Chess Championship of 1998, she won the gold medal in the Girls Under-14 event. She won the bronze medal in both 2001 and 2002 at the World Junior Chess Championship (Girls, Under-20). In 2005, she tied for first place in the European Individual Women's Championship, and won the bronze medal in 2007. GM Kosintseva won the 2008 Russian women's championship, and finished second in 2009. In 2010, she tied for 1st–7th in the Master Open section of the 43rd Biel Chess Festival. GM Kosintseva was a member of the gold medal-winning Russian team in the Women's Chess Olympiads of 2010 and 2012, and in the Women's European Team Chess Championships of 2007, 2009, and 2011. She was awarded the Grandmaster title in 2011.

Fellow BCF players,

BCF enthusiastically thanks the mother of the late Greg Hager for the beautiful and tasty gift basket she donated for the memorial event for her son (final photo).

This massive five-round three-day event was a great pleasure for me to direct, and I thank Jared and Joaquin Carlson for covering me on the Friday night when I could not come (I was at my 30th high school reunion that night).

Yue Huang played impressively to score a perfect 5-0 game in the U2000 Section. Enthusiastic congratulations.
