TOUGH AS NAILS AT 7!
Steve Stepak essays an Exchange Slav D14 vs Winston Zhao
for equality in Round 1. Yet, pursuing an incorrect strategic
plan forward, for white, the position wavered from +/- to -/+; in
the end Steve had 3 minutes on his clock; Winston 3 seconds (!)
[OK, I cracked. Instead of moving my rooks around to
the c-file and just hold things steady (the position was really equal
on the board), I decided to win a pawn which was actually a
losing plan on the board. (The brain plays strange tricks on
you after a 2 hour chess battle!!) So with 3 seconds still on his,
clock, Winston managed to stay calm and bring his
game on the board to a win!] Winston scored
2.5 points for a +53 to 1417 rating to share
1-5th place. Bravo, Winston!
Boshen Li vs Tom Shneer, Round 4: draw!

Boshen scored a +71 to 1417 rating. Bravo, Boshen!
