APRIL GRAND PRIX

ON THE ROAD TO CHESS MASTERY
Andrew Hoy 3 points for 1-2nd place.
Andrew was 3 for 3 and withdrew the event
in the last round! His rating was +35 to 2120.
Matthew Manzo vs Arthur Tang, Round 1.
Arthur scored 3 out of 4 and shared 1-2nd place.
He was +4 to 2050 rating.
Michael Mahoney vs NM Hal Terrie.
Michael put up a good fight but lost in the end.
Hal went on to score 2.5 out of 4 for clear 3rd place.
Poised beyond his years . . . 
Natasha Christiansen white vs Derek Jin, Round 2.
Derek held his ground for the full point.

Prodigy marches onward and upward
7 year old Derek Jin scored 2 points in the Open Section
for clear 4th place. His rating was +34 to 1481
tops in his age category in Massachusetts.

Arthur Tang vs Ross Eldridge, Round 2.
U1800 SECTION
Daniel Zhou v Richard Alan Chen, Round 1.
Richard won this game and shared 1-3rd with
Daniel's brother David Tianyi Zhou and Alex Brown.
Daniel was 2 for 4 on the day with a +99 to 1052 rating.
YOUTH FACE OFF
David Tianyi Zhou vs Jesse Enoch Liu, Round 1.
David scored 3 points to share 1-3rd place.
Jesse is a new face at the BCC, a junior veteran who
plays regularly out of Waltham, MA with 133 games
under his belt and a 50 percent + win/loss/draw average.
David Zhou has played 106 games 51wins; 13 draws;  42 loses,
for a 54.2 percent average.
REMATCH!
Sammi Pan plays Alex Brown: a see-saw battle, with
Sammi having the win in her view at one point, could not
close the deal and Alex went on to find the checkmate for
the full point. Alex, the lowest rated player in the field, received
a full-point bye in Round 1 and went on to score a respectable 2 out of 3
to collect the 3 points and a share of 1-3rd. With this result,
Alex earned a +117 to 1035 rating and a 3 point total 
in the  BCC GP U1200 standing. Bravo, Alex!

Phu Si Vo plays Steve Stepak in Round 2.
Vo won this D94 Gruenfeld but lost to Richard Chen.
So Phu and Steve share 4-5th place with 2.5 points each.
Critical Game
 
Richard Alan Chen defends vs Alex Brown, Round 3.
Richard won this game and was 3 for 3 at this point. He
chose to withdraw from the event and did not play Round 4.
