Chessdad64 had a chance to sit down with Jean Troendle, the proprietor of Cajun Chess, at last weekend's Illinois Open. Based on that talk, he shares with us the History of Chess in New Orleans pre-Katrina.
On a related note, ChessBase News has finally caught up with the Jude Acers/Hurricane Katrina connection. Their story is mostly a rehash of things which have been reported elsewhere (especially at Chessville). Everyone continues to be encouraged by the fact that Jude is listed as alive on the Gulf Coast News site. However, actual contact with him would certainly make many of us feel a whole lot better.
