Bob Oresick Conquers Pittsburgh Open
Bob Oresick, master BCC Blogger, was not playing this past weekend at BCC. He was visiting Pittsburgh.
But not able to let a weekend pass without putting his rating at risk, Bob (aka "Play 'em all") decided to play in the Pittsburgh Open. As the Visitor from the East he did rather well.
Tied for First in the U1800 section.
First in the U1600 class of the section.
Live rating went up 150 points to 1700!
Congratulations, Bob!
(Only possible downside may be that some Pitts players may be wary of visiting the BCC.)

Nicholas Sterling added 83 photos to the album: BCF July Scholastics - 07-22-2018.
Fellow BCF Scholastic players,
BCF Scholastics is growing! This was an incredible tournament with a record number of 31 players. Thanks to all the players who came, including especially the non-Member players who allowed us to have enough to hold a non-USCF Section, albeit a small one.
Thanks also to Dmitriy Barash who entered his son Jan and was of invaluable help as Assistant TD. Finally, thanks to all the parents who helped keep the flow of the tournament running smoothly.
Gordon Redwine and Shouri Mosaliganti have made huge strides as Scholastic players this year, and I look forward to seeing them enter the higher ranks of the MA Scholastic field. Congratulations to newcomer Arjun Singhania for his outstanding success in the 8 & Under.
Winners:

The Boylston needs tournament directors
Call for Tournament Directors ...
More TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS needed!
The Boylston Chess Club
Needs Your Help
Needs Your Help
We urgently need more tournament directors (TDs) to keep offering a wide variety of tournaments each month. Our small core
group of currently active TDs is stretched quite thin, and we cannot
run as many events at our beautiful site as we would like due to
insufficient (wo)manpower.
Bernardo Iglesias photo: Tony Cortizas, Jr |
Please consider becoming a certified USCF tournament director, if only to act as an assistant TD from time to time.
The certification process is extremely straightforward:
.
1) Read the USCF rulebook ("USCF Official Rules of Chess"), available at the club or online, e.g., on Amazon.
2) Fill out and return the following form to the USCF:
Please feel free to contact me or any other TD if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you.
