BCC JULY QUADS: ALWAYS A CHALLANGE // CHESS TALANT ABOUNDS // NEW EXPERT PLAYER EMERGES // AIR CONDITIONER WORKING WELL !!

July 6th  BCC G60/ QUADS featured 4  quads and a 3SS. Taking it from the top:
NM Mika Brattain, playing black vs Jason Spector to a draw in
Round 2, won the MasterQuad with 2.5 points.
NM Eric Godin and Spector went 2-3rd with 1.5 points.
Chess Expert Joe Perl, Esq. won the ExpertQuad with 2 points.
Perl, a long-time member of the greater Boston chess community, playing
and teaching chess, returns to the BCC to play this event.  Welcome
back, Joe!
Nathan Smolensky on the move vs Joe Perl: draw!
Nathan is not only president of the BCC and MACA 
but also finds the time to practice up on his chess technique.
(background): Dan Schmidt vs Oliver Traldi; Noah Kulick vs Joe Kelly.
Smolensky and Schmidt were undefeated, chalking up 1.5 points 
good for 2-3rd in their quad.
Nithin Kavi, on the move vs Joe Kelly in Round 3, scored 2.5 points,
going undefeated, winning Quad 3.
Noah Kulick (right) plays Mateos Sahakian in Round 3.
Noah finished with 2 points to take clear 2nd in Quad3. Mateos
had 1 point good for clear 3rd.
Bowen Wang vs Tim O'Malley, Round 3.
Bowen was undefeated with 2.5 points good for clear 1st in Quad 4.

Loring scored 2 points placing clear 2nd. Tim O'Malley scored 1 point
and took clear 3rd.
THE BIRTH OF AN EXPERT
Shachindra Chandrashekar, from India, plays white vs
Tony DiNosse. Shachindra won all his games in the 3SS event.
This is the first tournament he played in the USA. With 3 wins,
Shachindra earned a 2002 provisional rating. Bravo Shachindra!

in Round 1. Shachindra is now working in the 
field of computer technology, living in Nashua, NH.
He takes the bus back and forth from his chess adventures in MA.
Also, this is the first time Shachindra has been to the BCC.
So, welcome Shachindra. We hope you will play many tournaments
in the future, with us at the Boylston Chess Club.

Jeff scored 2 points to come in clear 2nd in the 3SS.
Nick Afshartous and Steve Stepak had 1.5 points to share 3-4th.
