a tie-break system had to be made:
a series of blitz chess games ensued!]
GAME 1 BLITZ CHESS TIE-BREAK
Ria Dawar, poised opposite Madeleine Hung, also poised,
Game 1 of tie-break blitz series: Ria won this game.
GAME 2 BLITZ CHESS TIE BREAK
Still poised, both players scrambled to meet the
time-control, though when Ria checkmated Madeleine
there was still over a minute left on both clocks.
Result: 2-0 to Ria, the crown and a chance to play in the
National Girls Championship, Phoenix, AZ this summer.
Brava to both girls: they were good sports and
exhibited great skill and nerve.

Ria Dawar, 3.5/4 for 1-2nd place and a +31 to 1506 provisional
rating. This is Ria's 4th rated event. She is quite skilled for her
