Description | Grandmaster Nadezhda
Kosintseva, born in 1985, achieved major success in chess, starting at a
young age. At the European Youth Chess Championship, Kosintseva won
gold medals in 1995 (Girls Under-10), 1997 (Girls Under-12) and 2000
(Girls Under-18). At the World Youth Chess Championship of 1998, she won
the gold medal in the Girls Under-14 event. She won the bronze medal in
both 2001 and 2002 at the World Junior Chess Championship (Girls,
Under-20). In 2005, she tied for first place in the European Individual
Women's Championship, and won the bronze medal in 2007. GM Kosintseva
won the 2008 Russian women's championship, and finished second in 2009.
In 2010, she tied for 1st–7th in the Master Open section of the 43rd
Biel Chess Festival.
GM Kosintseva was a member of the gold medal-winning Russian team in the Women's Chess Olympiads of 2010 and 2012, and in the Women's European Team Chess Championships of 2007, 2009, and 2011. She was awarded the Grandmaster title in 2011. GM Kosintseva will present an informative lecture, focusing on endgames. In her view, in contemporary chess many players spend too much time on openings, memorizing theoretical novelties or computer analyses. In contrast, the Russian chess school teaches the game differently, i.e., from the end to the beginning, emphasizing the importance of learning the basic endgames prior openings and middle games. In the lecture, GM Kosintseva will demonstrate a few instructive examples from her own games that she believes can enhance your endgame knowledge and help you to master your endgame technique. Time permitting, a question and answer session, open to any chess-related discussion, will follow. A buffet dinner will be provided for all attendees. |
