IT'S ALL IN THE SPRING WATER
Thomas Fang burst through the field to take clear 1st place
in the National Chess Day, Open Section with a perfect
4 - 0 score, and a + 73 to 2105 rating. Bravo, Thomas!
ROUND 1
Lawrence Tu, black vs Zubin Baliga. Zubin scored 2.5 points
to share 2-6th place and a rating upgrade of +14.

Thomas Fang, with the advantage of the white pieces takes

4SS. Point: anything can happen. And it did. Thomas won!

PRODIGY REIGNS

7 1/2 yr old Ruohan is silent, still and polite at the board!
Ruohan Yin, newly arrived from China,
writes down his moves with calligraphic style
in his game vs Bob Oresick.
Ruohan was undefeated in this event, scoring
3.5 points to take clear 1st place and a
rating upgrade of +336 to 1602!

tournament, the 2nd at the BCC. Nick has a
provisional rating of 1291. He is experimenting,
trying things out. He does not have a chess coach!
