Description | IM Norowitz will
discuss his approach to chess understanding, which is based on the
harmony of light and dark. These concepts are closely linked with pawn
structures, and also provide guidance for trades and knight vs bishop
duels. Essential to his approach is the concept that there is, in fact,
not one board, but TWO boards. 2 boards, 2 struggles, going on side by
side - Light ... and Dark.
The lecture will help the participants acquire a built-in "GPS" for their games! IM Norowitz will show some of his favorite games applying these principles, including a win against GM Nakamura. An ICC blitz legend for years, IM Norowitz quietly and steadily racked up rating points and norms, securing his third IM norm at the Reykjavik Open in Iceland in 2013. Known for frequenting Washington Square Park in New York City, IM Norowitz is also a chess teacher and instructor. When he was younger, IM Norowitz received instruction from GM Roman Dzindzichashvili. |
