Why some still call knights horses

From an article discussing CHESS BOARD's prospects at Fontwell on September 3rd (bold italics are mine):
Brendan Powell (IRISH WHISPERS) and Philip Hobbs (CHESS BOARD) have both won this race in the past, and the Vettori colt CHESS BOARD looked all set to make a winning debut at Newton Abbot first time up when jinking to his right when hitting the home straight, which left the pilot without a prayer in the saddle. If this is not a quirk with the beast, CHESS BOARD should certainly be there or thereabouts again turning for home.
Notice how this horse actually moves like a knight.
